Heston Kjerstad
Heston Kjerstad Exits Triple-A contest
Thu, Jun 19, 2025, 7:53 PM
Kjerstad exited Thursday's game with Triple-A Norfolk after fouling a ball off his right knee, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Analysis: Thursday's game was Kjerstad's fourth game with Norfolk since being demoted by Baltimore. He had gone just 2-for-15 with five strikeouts in total prior to exiting Thursday's game. The severity of the injury is not known.
Trevor Rogers
Trevor Rogers Mostly ineffective in no-decision
Thu, Jun 19, 2025, 2:55 AM
Rogers didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against Tampa Bay, giving up three runs on five hits and three walks in 2.1 innings. He struck out four.
Analysis: Summoned from Triple-Norfolk to replace the injured Cade Povich (hip) in the Orioles' rotation, Rogers' second start of the season wasn't nearly as impressive as his first. After firing 6.1 shutout innings in his season debut back on May 24 in Boston, the 27-year-old southpaw exhibited poor control while issuing three walks but did manage to whiff 10 during his abbreviated outing. Rogers' next turn in the rotation tentatively projects for next week versus the Rangers, who have scuffled to the tune of a .604 OPS against lefties since May 1.
Cedric Mullins
Cedric Mullins Belts 12th long ball in defeat
Wed, Jun 18, 2025, 10:06 PM
Mullins went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 12-8 defeat to the Rays.
Analysis: Mullins socked his 12th homer of the season, and he continues to hit more for power than average since returning from the injured list. Across his last 29 at-bats, the speedy outfielder is batting just .207 but has two big flies, two doubles and four RBI. Mullins had worked his way atop Baltimore's lineup earlier this year before giving way to Jackson Holliday in the leadoff spot -- the former has now hit sixth or lower in each of his last 16 outings -- and Mullins' fantasy upside may not be as pronounced while he's in the lower part of the batting order.
Dylan Carlson
Dylan Carlson Sitting after six straight starts
Wed, Jun 18, 2025, 6:02 PM
Carlson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.
Analysis: Carlson had made starts in the corner outfield in each of the last six games and went 9-for-21 with a solo home run, a stolen base and three additional runs, but he'll hit the bench Wednesday while Baltimore rolls out an outfield of Colton Cowser, Cedric Mullins and Ramon Laureano from left to right. Ryan O'Hearn will serve as Baltimore's designated hitter Wednesday, but if he ends up seeing the bulk of his playing time at first base moving forward, the Orioles could cycle a number of players at the DH spot to afford Carlson regular playing time in the outfield.
Ramon Urias
Ramon Urias Sitting in second straight
Wed, Jun 18, 2025, 5:58 PM
Urias is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.
Analysis: Urias will take a seat for the second game in a row and looks to be moving into more of a part-time role now with Jordan Westburg having taken back over as the Orioles' primary third baseman following his return from the injured list last Tuesday. The Orioles should still be able to find room in the lineup for Urias against left-handed pitching, but his opportunities to play against righties could become more sporadic.
Adley Rutschman
Adley Rutschman Sitting Wednesday
Wed, Jun 18, 2025, 4:24 PM
Rutschman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.
Analysis: Rutschman will take a seat after going 2-for-9 with a solo home run over the first two games of the series. Gary Sanchez will start behind the plate Wednesday.
Grant Wolfram
Grant Wolfram Sent back to Triple-A
Wed, Jun 18, 2025, 1:04 PM
The Orioles optioned Wolfram to Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday.
Analysis: The transaction frees a spot on the active roster for lefty Trevor Rogers, who was recalled from Triple-A to start Wednesday versus the Rays. Wolfram's latest stint with the Orioles lasted only one day, and he did not make an appearance.
Trevor Rogers
Trevor Rogers Recalled to start Wednesday
Wed, Jun 18, 2025, 1:02 PM
The Orioles recalled Rogers from Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday.
Analysis: Rogers will start Wednesday's road game against the Rays. The left-hander was terrific in a spot start for Baltimore back on May 24, tossing 6.1 scoreless innings with five strikeouts in a no-decision against the Red Sox. However, Rogers has not pitched well at Norfolk, collecting a 5.46 ERA and 26:8 K:BB over 29.2 innings. Rogers could receive multiple starts for Baltimore while Cade Povich (hip) is on the shelf, but he's a risky proposition in fantasy.
Dylan Carlson
Dylan Carlson Three hits, steal in win
Wed, Jun 18, 2025, 7:38 AM
Carlson went 3-for-4 with a steal and two runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Rays.
Analysis: Carlson posted his second three-hit effort over the last week, though he has just one RBI to show for it. He also swiped his second bag of the season, matching his total in 96 games last year. Carlson's hit safely in 16 of his last 20 games, slashing .333/.370/.551 over that span, making it difficult for manager Brandon Hyde to take him out of the lineup.
Colton Cowser
Colton Cowser Homers Tuesday
Wed, Jun 18, 2025, 7:34 AM
Cowser went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's win over the Rays.
Analysis: Cowser took Zack Littell deep to right-center field in the fifth to put the Orioles ahead 2-1 and that proved to be enough for the win. Cowser struck out his other three times up and now has struck out 12 times over his last 18 at-bats. He's homered three times since returning from the injured list June 3, but strikeouts have been a glaring issue for Cowser as he continues to get re-acclimated following an extended absence.
Dean Kremer
Dean Kremer Earns win over Rays
Wed, Jun 18, 2025, 7:29 AM
Kremer (6-7) got the win Tuesday over the Rays, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out four in five innings.
Analysis: Kremer picked up his first win in June and the 500th strikeout of his career Tuesday night. His four hits allowed were his fewest since he allowed three May 8, and he kept the ball in the park for the fifth time in his last six outings. Since May 2, Kremer has a 3.52 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 45:15 K:BB in 53.2 innings. He's lined up to face the Yankees on the road this weekend to complete a two-start week.
Trevor Rogers
Trevor Rogers On taxi squad ahead of start
Tue, Jun 17, 2025, 3:32 PM
Rogers has been added to the Orioles' taxi squad and is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Norfolk to start Wednesday against the Rays, Danielle Allentuck of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.
Analysis: Rogers is taking the rotation spot of the injured Cade Povich (hip) and is likely to make at least a couple more starts after Wednesday while Povich recovers. The 27-year-old Rogers has been underwhelming this season at Norfolk, posting a 5.46 ERA and 26:8 K:BB over 29.2 innings. However, he dazzled in a spot start for the Orioles back on May 24, striking out five over 6.1 shutout frames versus the Red Sox.
Grant Wolfram
Grant Wolfram Summoned from minors
Tue, Jun 17, 2025, 12:06 PM
The Orioles recalled Wolfram from Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday.
Analysis: Wolfram made two appearances for Baltimore back in April, allowing two runs over 1.1 innings. He will give the club a third lefty in the bullpen alongside Gregory Soto and Keegan Akin.
Colin Selby
Colin Selby Heading back to minors
Tue, Jun 17, 2025, 12:04 PM
The Orioles optioned Selby to Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday.
Analysis: Selby was up for one day and tossed two scoreless innings in Monday's loss to the Rays. Unfortunately for him, the appearance meant he would be unavailable for the next day or two, so the Orioles are replacing him with a fresh bullpen arm in Grant Wolfram, who was recalled from Triple-A.
Adley Rutschman
Adley Rutschman Hits homer in loss
Mon, Jun 16, 2025, 10:47 PM
Rutschman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Monday's 7-1 loss to the Rays.
Analysis: Rutschman hit his seventh home run of the season, his first in nine games, to account for the only Orioles run of the game. The pop from the 27-year-old's bat has been largely missing as of late; he has just four extra-base hits in his last 19 games. The catcher is slashing .233/.325/.384 in 235 at-bats, with his .708 OP down from the first two seasons of his career in which he was over .800.
Zach Eflin
Zach Eflin Battered around in defeat
Mon, Jun 16, 2025, 10:31 PM
Eflin (6-3) took the loss after pitching five innings and allowing seven runs on 12 hits and two walks while striking out two during Monday's 7-1 loss to the Rays.
Analysis: Eflin's three-start win streak is officially over after he turned in one of his worst starts of the season Monday. After allowing just four runs in 19.1 innings over his prior three starts, he allowed seven runs in five innings. He also allowed 10+ hits for the second time this year. The 31-year-old has been mostly solid this season, but a couple of bad starts where he allowed 15 runs in 10.1 innings have inflated his ERA to 4.81. The right-hander is scheduled to next start on the road against the Yankees.
Gregory Soto
Gregory Soto Fans three in scoreless appearance
Mon, Jun 16, 2025, 10:30 PM
Soto struck out three in a scoreless sixth inning during Monday's 7-1 loss to the Rays, allowing one baserunner on a hit batsman.
Analysis: Soto had a shaky start to June, serving up a home run in his first outing of the month, but he's now rattled off six scoreless appearances in a row since then. The hard-throwing left-hander had a 4.67 ERA for the season as of May 23, but he's improved that mark to a healthier 3.51 to go with a 1.21 WHIP and 31:8 K:BB over 25.2 innings following Monday's effort. Soto has been a key setup man for closer Felix Bautista with 15 holds, the third-highest figure for this category in the American League so far.
Ramon Laureano
Ramon Laureano Checking out of lineup Monday
Mon, Jun 16, 2025, 3:11 PM
Laureano is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rays.
Analysis: The Orioles will get two everyday players in Colton Cowser (soreness) and Ryan O'Hearn (ankle) back in the lineup Monday following multi-game absences, and though Laureano will head to the bench, he still appears to have a hold on a regular spot in the starting nine. Since returning from the injured list June 6, Laureano had started in each of the Orioles' ensuing nine games and slashed .250/.342/.438 with two home runs and six RBI. He maintains a .834 OPS on the season, good for second on the team behind O'Hearn (.893).
Coby Mayo
Coby Mayo Out of lineup again versus righty
Mon, Jun 16, 2025, 3:09 PM
Mayo is not in the lineup for Monday's game versus the Rays.
Analysis: The Orioles are facing right-hander Ryan Pepiot, marking the fifth straight contest that Mayo has been out of the lineup against a righty. Baltimore will go with Ryan O'Hearn at first base and Jordan Westburg at designated hitter.
Ryan O'Hearn
Ryan O'Hearn Returning to lineup
Mon, Jun 16, 2025, 3:05 PM
O'Hearn (ankle) will start at first base and bat fifth in Monday's game against the Rays.
Analysis: O'Hearn missed the previous two contests after injuring his left ankle this past Friday, but he's ready to roll for Monday's series opener. Coby Mayo will retreat to the bench after starting the last two games at first base in O'Hearn's place.
